Bringing Out Your Best in a Brand "You" Way!

Do not throw your life away for your Ex!

Are you one of those people (what do you mean those people?) who have a girlfriend or boyfriend you’re completely obsessed with? or maybe you know a couple like this.

These relationships consist of short extremely happy moments, followed by months of relapsing depression, crumpled tissues, and maniacal thoughts.

I’ve seen students who had unlimited potential become “F” students, lose scholarships, and even drop out of school because of bad break ups.

Here’s a guide to Getting Through College without Stress From Your EX

1. Think ahead, but stop at paranoid: Ask yourself, what would I do if this person left me, and promise yourself whatever happens you won’t let it get in the way of  your growth and career plans. Promise and believe in the promise.

2. Take it slow: By the time you reach Jr. year some serious hormone changes are going to persuade you to want to start a family. I know you’re thinking women this is mostly women, but surprisingly a lot more men fall into this category, according to a Times magazine article done earlier this year on “Women in Power”.

3. Give each other ample space: Sometimes when we’re completely into someone, we have this animalistic urge to smother the hell out of them. Wrong! Try aiming for frequent breaks, it reduces dependency and actually makes the relationship stronger.

4. Living Together: Don’t do it! This is the worst thing you can do in college. Rarely have I seen this work out.

5. Making Sacrifices Of Time: With moderation ok, but don’t neglect your set goals and throw away growth opportunities for anyone. If the person you’re with cares about you, they’ll want to see you succeed in life, and won’t hold you back.

Remember you’ve got to take responsibility for your career and future. No one’s going to feel sorry for you when you tell them you’re going through a bad break up. They’ll politely empathize with your situation (if that) and continue on with their lives.

One of the most attractive attributes of successful people is their lack of dependency from outer influence. Confuscious says: Look for a partner who can share fun times with you, and not someone to live for.

Personal Branding Gen Y: Bored Out Of Your Skull!

leave a comment »

College can be a challenging experience for some of us, ok more like most of us. We run out of things to do, we become bored out of our skulls, and then what; we end up wasting tons of time doing stuff that won’t help us in life like playing online games all day, and surfing through youtube.

You’re probably thinking between school, keg parties, hanging out with friends, and work you’d have zero time to do anything. Nope, you couldn’t be farther from it.

In college we end up finding amazing ways to make time fly. We pick up new hobbies, join clubs, make even more friends, but very few of us will ever take the time to realize that it’s crucial to build our personal brands as early as possible.

Here’s a tip I wish I knew when I started college.

Instead of hanging out all day with your friends to make time fly, what about investing it into yourself; your future; by networking with leaders on your campus, professors and staff, and charities that support causes you believe in. Doesn’t that sound a 100% more empowering then hanging out at the mall eating horrible chinese food.

Some of you are thinking, too much homework; huge list of things to do, don’t have the time.

City’s response, “If you’re not ecstatic, supercharged, stoked, amazed beyond infinity about your major, or what you’ll be doing with your career, and even more important your life,; you need to do some serious soul searching, and schedule an appointment with a career counselor.

Its amazing at the things you won’t necessarily learn in college, but can learn while attending. When I started working on my brand being bored became impossible.

Think of your favorite celeb being bored, really think about how stupid that looks. They’re always doing cool new and exciting things, so why not you?  The truth is you’ve got to find something you love to do, and if you put out the passion, and commitment you’ll always have more then enough energy, time, and commitment to being the best at it.

Personal Branding The Real You!

leave a comment »

The concept of personal branding was first thought to be introduced in 1997 by a man named Tom Peters, an American author who wrote about business management. From that time to now, it has caught on like wildfire.

According to Google Insights, Personal Branding is one of the fastest growing trends in the corporate as well as the entrepreneur markets. As we integrate rapidly into an inevitable global economy, we simply can’t go hunting for the jobs anymore, the jobs have to find us.

If you wanted to start your personal brand today, where would you begin? A common mistake most people make when branding themselves is, creating a brand for themselves that doesn’t align with their passion or true interest in life.

An example would be a college graduate, who’s been working for years in his industry and realizes one day how much he hates his career path. Should he continue because he’s gone so far, or should he stop and reevaluate his image of success?

Personal branding consist of two thing: Doing what you love, and standing out while doing it.

There are 3 simple steps in branding the real you

  • First, find your passion.
  • Second, learn everything you can about it.
  • Third, Share the knowledge you’ve attained.

Personal branding in the beginning is like planting a oak seed. It needs nourishment, space, love, and most importantly time to grow into a giant, a force to reckoned with, a titan you can be proud of.
